We have every right to intercept these crossings in accordance with EU Regulation 656\/14. Greece does not want to be the gateway to Europe for the smuggling networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attempting these crossings is highly dangerous and those undertaking such journeys are being encouraged, facilitated and exploited by unscrupulous criminal groups that must be held accountable for their actions. Turkey is a safe country and can provide, where needed, appropriate international protection. Sadly, instead of Turkey preventing unlawful departures, it is often too busy filming them, rather than doing what it is mandated to do under the joint agreement \u2013 namely intervening to prevent these small boats from reaching Greece in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important that all EU Member States and the European Commission, as well as Frontex &amp; EASO, all work together to address the migration crisis, a crisis which continues to pose significant challenges for the European Union.
