The Minister of \u039cigration and Asylum Mr. Mitarachi, after the completion of the rescue operation of 382 migrants off Crete, made the following post:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018\u2019Earlier today the Hellenic coastguard safely disembarked 382 migrants from a Turkish flagged vessel after its engine failed in international waters off Crete. Yet again another dangerous and illegal journey from the Turkish coast, unseen by the Turkish authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have notified the EU that Turkey has refused to take their vessel back. Greece has rescued hundreds of thousands of people in the last seven years – it is time for the EU to act and provide impactful solidarity and ensure the EU\/Turkey statement is upheld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This was a needless dangerous journey facilitated by criminal gangs. Unlike Turkey and others that ignored the problem, Greece stepped up. Providing immediate humanitarian support to people in need, as we always do.
