A meeting with the members of the European Parliament Juan Fernando L\u00d3PEZ AGUILAR, Pietro BARTOLO, Fabienne KELLER, Damian BOESELAGER, Cristian TERHE\u0218, Cornelia ERNST, was held by the Governor of the Asylum Service, Mr. Marios Kaleas and the Director of the Appeals Authority Mrs. Maria Fokianou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting took place as part of the visit of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament to Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion focused on the acceleration of the asylum procedures and the reduction of the pending issues of the Asylum Service and the Appeals Authority in combination with the new legal framework, the decongestion of the Aegean islands and the departure of 8,000 people from Greece in first half of 2021, either through returns or under the Relocation Program.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
