The Minister of Migration and Asylum, Mr. Notis Mitarachi met with the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Mr. Abdulla Shahid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the centre of their discussion were the challenges of migration in Europe as well as globally and the need for cooperation, through the Global Migration Pact that is currently being reviewed at the General Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Mitarachi stressed the importance of combating trafficking and illegal crossings in contrast to the need to effectively regulate legal migration for the benefit of the front line countries and the migrants themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
