IOM Greece welcomed a delegation of eight to study best practices in Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR).

Meetings with different units of AVRR were organized to learn about the overall procedures in the provision of AVRR to migrants who wish to voluntarily return to their home country. Visits to the airport and the Open Centre for Migrants Registered for Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (OCAVRR) took place.

As part of the close cooperation with the Greek authorities under the framework of the AVRR project, the delegation had the opportunity to meet the Governor of Asylum Service of the Ministry of Migration & Asylum, Mr. Kaleas Marios.

More than 9800 migrants have returned to their home country, since September 2019.

IOM is currently implementing an AVRR project co-funded 75% by European Funds (Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund) and 25% by National Funds.
