Definition of safe third countries and creation of a national catalog

The no. 42799/03.06.2021 Joint Decision of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Asylum (B' 2425), as amended by the no. 458568/15.12.2021 (B' 5949) similar Joint Decision (B' 2425), after a review of the relevant data, remains valid.

The creation of a national catalog of safe third countries is decided, according to article 86 of Law 4636/2019, for the following countries:

Α. Turkey as a safe country, for the following applicants for international protection:
a. Applicants with Syria as a country of origin
b. Applicants with Afghanistan as a country of origin
c. Applicants with Pakistan as a country of origin
d. Applicants of Bangladesh as a country of origin
e. Applicants with Somalia as a country of origin

Β. Albania as a safe country for applicants for international protection that have entered Greek territory from its borders with Albania without the lawful requirements.

C. North Macedonia as a safe country for applicants for international protection that have entered Greek territory from its borders with North Macedonia without the lawful requirements.

The creation of a national catalog of safe third countries is decided, with the inclusion of Turkey as a safe third country, according to article 86 of Law 4636/2019, for the following categories of applicants for international protection:

a. Applicants with Syria as a country of origin

b. Applicants with Afghanistan as a country of origin

c. Applicants with Pakistan as a country of origin

d. Applicants of Bangladesh as a country of origin

e. Applicants with Somalia as a country of origin
