With the Minister of Labor of Qatar Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh Al Marri, the Deputy Foreign Minister Mrs Lolwah Al Khater and the Brigadier Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani, Director General of the Ministry of Interior, met the Minister of Migration and Asylum Mr. Notis Mitarachi, during his visit to Doha.
The talks focused on the challenges Greece faces in managing migration as a front-line country.
At the same time, the Minister of Migration and Asylum briefed Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh Al Marri, and Mrs. Lolwah Al Khater on his recent visits to Pakistan and Bangladesh. Additionally, there was a fruitful exchange of views on the situation in Afghanistan, given Qatar's involvement in humanitarian operations. The two sides agreed on the need to coordinate international efforts to stabilize the situation in the country.
Mr. Mitarachi reiterated Greece 's support for Qatar' s efforts to join the Schengen visa waiver system.
Finally, the authorities of Qatar invited Mr. Mitarachi to participate in the annual Doha Forum, which will take place on 26th & 27th of March 2022.
