Greek language certification
The General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning
The General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning, in the context of its policies to enhance social inclusion, organizes and monitors Greek language courses (learning levels A1, A2, B1 and B2). Language courses of level A2 as well as courses in Greek history and civilization address third-country nationals that wish to become extended residents. After completing A2, history and civilization courses one is eligible to take examinations and obtain a specific type of certification that denotes competency and proficiency in Greek language, Greek history, and civilization.

Centre for the Greek Language
The Center for the Greek Language is the competent body for Greek language certification exams. The Greek language certificate that is provided, denotes proficiency in Greek and is required for professional purposes as well as enrolling in Greek Higher Education Institutions.

The Modern Greek Language Teaching Center
The Modern Greek Language Teaching Center conducts certification examinations for B2 level knowledge in Modern Greek. These exams are open to everyone but the Center especially addresses prospective foreign students of the Greek Public Higher Education Institutions. The B2 level certificate is officially recognized by the State as a certificate of language proficiency and competency.
