N. Mitarachi: "The Ministry for Migration and Asylum implements a strict but fair migration policy, respecting human rights, always in accordance with international and European law."
On the sidelines of the informal EU Home Affairs Council, held in Ljubljana, the Minister for Migration and Asylum, Mr. Notis Mitarachi and the Director of the Organization, Mr. Michael O'Flaherty, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry for Migration and Asylum with the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) for the period 2021 – 2024.
The Memorandum renews the cooperation of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), with the Ministry for Migration and Asylum, in issues such as advisory support, training and capacity building of the Ministry's executives, in the field of protection of fundamental rights, in cooperation with the Greek Ombudsman.
After signing the Memorandum, Mr. Mitarachi stated the following:
"We continue a close cooperation with the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), as Ministry for Migration and Asylum, implements a strict but fair migration policy, respecting for human rights and in accordance with international and European law. Our goal is, through the support of FRA, to achieve best practices and further specialization of the staff of the Ministry for Migration and Asylum, in human rights issues."
