Reception and Identification Service (RIS) implements the Action titled: «Reinforcement of Reception and Identification Service, including Reception and Identification Centers, with human resources», as a beneficiary, within the framework of the National Program "Internal Security Fund".

The Action is co-financed by the European Internal Security Fund (ISF) under the rule of 75%-25% (25% consists national funding) and the total budget of the Action amounts to 14,625,218.00 €. The starting date of this Action defined to be the 1st March 2017, and following the relevant amendments that have taken place, the closing date defined to be the 31st July 2021.

The core activity of the project consists the reinforcement of Reception and Identification Service with 265 employees with temporary contracts following the published call for expressions of interest. These employees mainly work in the regional Centers of the Service and specifically in the Reception and Identification Centers of Lesvos, Samos, Kos, Leros, Chios and Fylakio of Evros, supporting the operation of these Centers, but also in the Central offices of Reception and Identification Service, supporting its coordination with the regional Centers of the Service, aiming to meet the needs arising from the migratory flows that have arrived and are arriving in the Greek Territory, and therefore to their effective management.

In general, this action becomes necessary for the Reception and Identification Centers to be fully operational, by increasing significantly the number of specialized staff engaged in Reception and Asylum procedures, aiding at the same time all the other tasks that were obligatory in the RICs.
