Implementing the Action “Enhancing Greece’s Reception and Identification (RIS) capability and readiness to manage emergencies”

An action entitled “Enhancing Greece’s Reception and Identification (RIS) capability and readiness to manage emergencies” was implemented by the Reception and Identification Service (R.I.S.) of the Hellenic Ministry of Migration and Asylum (MoMA).

The Reception and Identification Service (R.I.S.), under the framework of its mandate, is constantly implementing actions and activities regarding the improving of the operational capacity of the Accommodation Sites and also the provided services to the beneficiaries residing in the sites. Among the aforementioned activities, the aforementioned project is implemented for R.I.S. by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the funding of DG REFORM of the European Commission.

The implementation of the Action, included among other activities, the drafting and the implementation of three (3) theoretical tabletop exercises and three (3) field exercises in RIC Leros, the Katsikas Accommodation Site and the Kyllini Accommodation site.

The activities aimed to the exercising of the competent staff, material and means of the involved Entities and Services on the implementation of the current operational plans and the dealing of emergency needs that are able to affect, actively, the smooth operation of the Accommodation Sites and the services provided to the beneficiaries residing in the sites. During the realisation of the exercises, effort was made that the implemented scenarios simulated, to the greatest extent, the real conditions so as to achieve the maximum gain from the training, test and evaluation of the relative data, for all the participants.
