• Travel documents are individual. Ιn order to apply for travel documents you have to be a recognized refugee or an alien with Subsidiary Protection.
  • Αν είστε δικαιούχος καθεστώτος πρόσφυγα, τα ταξιδιωτικά έγγραφα τα δικά σας και της οικογένειάς σας  διαρκούν πέντε (5) έτη από την έκδοσή τους.  Αυτή η διάρκεια ισχύει αν είστε ενήλικος/η  ή ανήλικος που έχει συμπληρώσει τα δεκατέσσερα (14) έτη της ηλικίας σας. Η διάρκεια είναι τρία (3) έτη αν είστε ανήλικος κάτω των δεκατεσσάρων (14) χρόνων.

In order to apply for travel documents: 

  • You can apply to Passport Offices of the Greek Police. You should choose a Passport Office from the list below according to your current place of residence. You have to submit an application that is provided by the Passport Office and additional documents/administrative fee that are described below. The Passport Office will also take your fingerprints.
  • When you apply you should have with you your Residence Permit (ADET). If you don't have a Residence Permit your Applicant's Card should have the indication "Residence Permit is Pending." In this case you need to bring your Applicant's Card with you.
  • Για να κάνετε αίτηση ταξιδιωτικών εγγράφων για τα παιδιά σας, χρειάζεστε τα ίδια δικαιολογητικά/παράβολο τα οποία  περιγράφονται παρακάτω. Επίσης, εάν τα παιδιά σας είναι άνω των έξι (6) ετών θα πρέπει να τα πάρετε μαζί σας στο Γραφείο Διαβατηρίων για να ληφθούν και τα δικά τους δακτυλικά αποτυπώματα.

  • Όταν θα καταθέσετε τα δικαιολογητικά θα σας δοθεί ένα αποδεικτικό από το γραφείο διαβατηρίων. Αυτό το αποδεικτικό δεν πρέπει  να το χάσετε γιατί θα σας χρειαστεί κατά την παραλαβή του ταξιδιωτικού σας εγγράφου.

  • If you have submitted an application for travel documents before May 30, 2020 in the Asylum Service offices, apart from the above documents, you also have to submit to the Passport Office the decision of the Asylum Service that shows that your application for travel documents has been approved. 
  • In order to see if your decision is ready you have to look at the announcements for Decisions on Travel Document ApplicationsYou can search for your decision in the announcements of the Asylum Service hereaccording to your case number.
  • If you have submitted an application after May 30, 2020, a decision won’t be issued and you don’t need to submit a decision.

Documents you need to submit with your application for travel documents if you are a Recognized Refugee.

  1. Solemn Declaration application for the issue of travel documents which can be provided by the Passport Office

Documents you need to submit with your application for travel documents if you a beneficiary of Subsidiary Protection.

  1. Solemn Declaration application for the issue of travel documents which can be provided by the Passport Office
  2. Copy of your Subsidiary Protection decision document that specifies that you have the right to travel documents from the Greek State. If the above mentioned decision does not include the above specification, you are required to provide a document that objectively proves that the authorities of your country of origin can not issue to you a national passport (e.g., a relevant declaration issued from the Embassy of your country of origin in Greece).
  3. Copy of the Residence Permit decision document (ADET).
  4. Two recent photographs (passport type).
  5. Administrative Fee(Information on e-Administrative Fee)

Additional information regarding applications for children:

  • When you have joint custody of your children with your spouse and you can't both be present at the Passport Office for the application of your children, a written consent is needed from the parent that won't be able to be there. The signatures in the written consent need to be authenticated.
  • When you have the sole custody of your children and there is no official document that proves this (e.g., divorce certificate, death certificate) you need to submit to the Passport Office, a Sworn Declaration of article 2, paragraph 6 of the Joint Ministry Decision 10302/ΦΕΚ Β΄2036/30-5-2020. In the Sworn Declaration you have to state that you have the sole custody of your children due to a specific event (e.g., divorce, death) but an official document from your country of origin can not be acquired to prove this.
  • If you are an unaccompanied minor, your Representative or Commissioner that has been appointed by the District Attorney for your care will submit the application for you.

How to pick up your travel documents

In order to pick up your travel documents

You can pick up your travel documents only in one of the following Regional Asylum Offices-Asylum Units:

    1. The Thessaloniki Regional Asylum Office
    2. The Attica Regional Asylum Office

Every time new travel documents are ready, announcements are posted.

You have to check the recent announcements in  Travel Documents that are Ready searching with your case number. The announcement that contains your case number will specify the exact time, date and location you have to pick up your document.

You have to go to the Regional Asylum Office (or Asylum Unit) at the time and date specified in the announcement.

You must come in person. to pick up your travel document. You can’t send someone else on your behalf.

You also have to wear a mask at the Regional Asylum Office (or Asylum Unit) when you go to pick up your travel documents.

When you pick up your travel document you have to have with you the following:

  • The receipt your received from the Passport Office for the submission of your documents.
  • Your Residence Permit (ADET) that must be valid.
  • If you don’t have a Residence Permit (ADET), you should have with you, your International Protection Applicant’s card with the stamp “Residence Permit is Pending.”

How to renew your travel documents

In order to renew your travel document, you need to take the following 5 actions/steps:

   First, you apply to the Asylum Service by email.

   You send Solemn Declarations by post  or  via email to the Asylum Service.

   You receive an email reply from the Asylum Service with instructions on steps 4 and 5.

  You submit documents to the Passport Office of the Greek Police (or Offices for Aliens).

You pick up your renewed travel document from the Regional Asylum Office or Asylum Unit of the Asylum Service.

 

If you are the sole parent in your family or the other parent is outside of Greece or you are an unaccompanied minor, you must apply for renewal of travel documents to the Regional Asylum Office or Asylum Unit that corresponds to your place of residence. You will receive further instructions when you visit the Regional Asylum Service Office or the Asylum Unit.

You apply to the Asylum Service by email

  • In order to apply for your travel document you need to submit an application to the following email address: GAS.traveldoc@migration.gov.gr
  • You can find the application here. It is available in English and Greek.
  • For each member of your family you need to send a separate email with a separate application
  • In your email message, apart from the application, you also need to attach a recent digital photo of you, according to the specifications for Greek passport photos.
  • In the subject of the email you have to type: “Travel Doc Renewals,” as well as the number of the valid Residence Permit in your possession (e.g. “Travel Doc Renewals P123456789”).
  • If you change your place of residence or your contact details you need to immediately inform the Asylum Unit of International Protection Beneficiaries.

You send Solemn Declarations by post or email to the Asylum Service 

  • You can send the Solemn Declarations via post υπεύθυνες δηλώσεις στην ταχυδρομική διεύθυνση: Υπηρεσία Ασύλου – Υπουργείο Μετανάστευσης & Ασύλου, ΑΚΑ Δικαιούχων, Π.Κανελλοπούλου 2, ΤΚ 11527.
  • Alternatively, if you have taxisnet credentials you can issue a digital solemn declaration, using your personal Taxisnet credentials, available at the following link (https://www.gov.gr/ipiresies/polites-kai-kathemerinoteta/psephiaka-eggrapha-gov-gr/ekdose-upeuthunes-deloses)

    You can send the solemn declaration with your application to the following  email : gas.traveldoc@migration.gov.gr

  • More specifically, the solemn declarations are:
  1. The Solemn Declaration A’ (or Annex A’)where you declare that you have not committed a serious crime or offense, as per the competent legal framework of Greek Law. If your child is over fifteen (15) years of age you need to submit the same Solemn Declaration for your child. In this case, both of the parents as well the child need to sign the Solemn Declaration. You can find the Solemn Declaration A’ here in Amharic, Arabic, English, Farsi, French, Pashto, Tigrinya and Urdu.
  2. You should send Solemn Declaration B’ (or Annex B’) only if you wish to renew the travel documents of your underage children. In this case you need to declare that you give your consent for the renewal of the travel documents of your children. Both parents need to submit this Solemn Declaration. You will find the Solemn Declaration B’ (or Annex B’) here in Amharic, Arabic, English, Farsi, French, Pashto, Tigrinya and Urdu.
  • These Solemn Declarations need to be signed. Afterwards the signatures need to be verified by the competent authorities, such as the Citizen Service Centers (KEP) and police stations.

There are other very important details that you need to know in order to submit the application and the solemn declarations. Read these detailed instructionsvery carefully.

You receive an email reply from the Asylum Service with instructions on steps 4 and 5 from the Asylum Service

  • Make sure you have given your correct email address in your application
  • After some time, you will receive a reply via email from the Asylum Service. The reply will be written in a language that you understand.
  • The email reply will contain information with regards to whether your travel documents are renewed or not (whether a decision has been issued and whether this decision is positive or negative) as well as further instructions.
  • If the decision is positive, the email reply will refer you to Passport Offices of the Greek Police (or Alien Offices) where you will have to submit additional documents.
  • More specifically, the email reply will mention the specific Passport Office (or office of Aliens) you need to go to and what you need to bring with you.
  • If the Asylum Service has decided not to renew your travel documents you will be informed in the email reply that you have to go to a Regional Asylum Office or an Asylum Unit in order to pick up this decision (which specifies that your renewal will not be further processed).

You submit documents to the Passport Office of the Greek Police (or Offices for Aliens). (ή Γραφείο Αλλοδαπών)

You need to have with you the following documents when you visit the Passport Office (or Office for Aliens):

  • A print out of the email you received from the Asylum Service
  • The file attached in the email that contains the decision on the renewal of your travel documents.
  • Your current travel document.
  • Your residence permit (ADET), that should be valid.
  • Two (2) recent Greek passport type photographs
  • Receipt of administrative fee payment for travel documents

You will receive a receipt from the Passport Offices for the documents you have submitted. You must not lose this receipt as you will need it in the last stage when you pick up your travel documents.

You pick up your renewed travel document from the Regional Asylum Office or Asylum Unit. 

  • You should pick up your renewed travel document from the Regional Asylum Office or Asylum Unit that is responsible for the geographical area you currently live in.
  • The email reply you received from the Asylum Service will specifically state the specific Regional Asylum Office (or Asylum Unit) from where you can pick up your renewed travel document.
  • View the contact information of the Regional Asylum Offices or Asylum Units.
  • In order to pick up your renewed travel document, you have to follow the announcements of Travel Documents that have been Renewed.
  • When renewed travel documents are ready, announcements are posted. In order to see if your travel document has been renewed you need to search in Travel Documents that have been Renewed using the number of your current travel document.
  • The announcement that contains the number of your current travel document mentions the day and time you can pick up your renewed travel documents.
  • You have to pick up your travel documents at the specific day and time mentioned in the announcement.
  • You have to come in person. You can’t send someone else on your behalf
  • You have to wear a mask when you visit the Regional Asylum Office to pick up your residence permit.

You have to have with you in the Regional Asylum Office or Asylum Unit the following documents in order to receive your travel document:

  • Your current travel document (TDV)
  • Your valid residence permit (ADET)
  • The receipt (Barcode) you received from the Passport Office for the documents you submitted

Θα θέλαμε να σας ενημερώσουμε ότι κατ’ εφαρμογή των μέτρων προστασίας της δημόσιας υγείας και αποτροπής της διασποράς covid-19, τα προγραμματισμένα ραντεβού για παράδοση ταξιδιωτικών εγγράφων του ΠΓΑ Θεσσαλονίκης δεν θα πραγματοποιηθούν από Δευτέρα 8/3/2021 μέχρι και Δευτέρα 15/3/2021. Θα υπάρξει νεότερη ανακοίνωση σχετικά με τον επαναπρογραμματισμό τους, μετά την άρση των υγειονομικών μέτρων.
